I recently set up a decorative fuge w/ chaeto, fern caulerpa, ulva & some decorative macros. I know I have pods. I'm looking for ideas to make their population explode. Do they eat the chaeto or ulva? Do they need phyto?

Use Marine Snow for 2 days in a hi-flow area and keep the lights off 48 hours.

You should see an Xplosion in less than a week :)

Phyto doesnt work as well as Marine Snow in my experience. The micron size for marine snow starts at .2 microns. For Phyto it starts from 5-300 or more

Split the dose instead of dosing once a week.

I put a fish trap in my tank a few months ago to house a crab. had a piece of meat in there for him .. Next morning the thing was loaded with baby pods. They were all over the glass for a week or two.

    what meat did you use?

Also not cleaning the glass results in a copepod Xplosion

Do you mean something like Reef Plus for amino acids? I didn't notice a copepod explosion from using that.

Well that particular time it was a slice of squid.. I would imagine shrimp, clams would work.

any food will feed pods, they are fully capable of chewing off chunks. Micron size of this and that doesn't matter with them ;) And no, they usually do not eat macro's. They simply use them for shelter.
