I've recently taken down my FOWLR. I'm looking for any ideas on how I can trap the amphipods in there. Before I drain the tank, I'd like to transfer as many as possible to my fuge/reef tank. I've come with the idea of a net and some food, but would like more ideas.

get a raw shrimp and a 20oz bottle, cut a piece of the shrimp and toss it in the bottle and set it on the bottom of the tank for a day or 2, they will come to feast, just make sure there is always shrimp in there cause they will consume it quickly, make sure you keep your lights off as well, they come out by the 1000's at night in my tanks.

Well, with almost a full day soak, they don't seem to like the silverside in the trap. I've got a bag of shrimp crumbs that I'm thawing to see if I can get a good sized piece of bait. I've kept the lights off with periodic checks with the flashlight. There is a ton in there. I think I'm going to leave this tank running for a while and see how many of these pods I can catch/breed.

hey mission, is the other tank up and running yet? i was thinking maybe if you have (or could buy) an incredibly porous rock(tons of holes everywhere), or maybe a big ol' sponge with lots of holes, keep the tank with them empty, no LR. they will eventually go to a hiding place amongst the rock/sponge/whatever you go with. just a thought though :)
