I just got this sabae about 5 days ago and he was good for the first four now he is shrivled up and is detaching from the ground. Idk if this is normal cause im a noob to anything saltwater. Also i took it out cause i heard if it smells horrible then it is dead but i didnt smell anything, and when it detached there was some white stuff under where its stem was mounted to the sand. Help would be so much appreciated thanks!

    Welcome to 3reef,

Sounds like an unfortunate situation. Hard to speculate without an image.

A dying anemone will float around, have a gaping oral opening, show mesentrerial filaments (white and stringy in appearence) from oral opening or any area of tissue damage and you might have a detectable ammonia value from decay.

so do you think i should remove it asap? i can see the oral opening getting bigger but it hasn't had anything come out of it yet, nor is it floating around.

Never mind it's definitely dead. I picked it out of the water and it smelt horendious. But should how kind should I wait before trying another. I have had the tank up for about 2 months. Idk if thats too early but guy at my local fish store said it should be fine.

wait at least 8 more months before considering getting another, and before you get another consider why that one died so the same thing wont happen again, although im guessing the tank just wasnt established enough if even cycled

Agreed...nems fare best in tanks that have had stable params for at LEAST six months.
