if a fish is breathing heavily what could this be due to?

    my anthias had a wound on her left jaw and i was thinking my coral banded shrimp bit her... and ever since the wound showed she started breathing heavily any ideas why ? i have no evidence the shrimp bit her but how else is she going to get that wound?

    Is that the only fish breathing heavily? The gills may be damaged. I would treat with an antibacterial to prevent an infection.

    Is the fish usually at the top of the tank gulping at the surface? It could just be that you need some more surface tension for gas exchange..
    It also depends on what the wound looks like and how bad it is...

    the fish usually just chills on the bottom.. all my other fish are fine and swim freely... and the wound has been on him for 4 days.. he died just now but man i dont know why i think that damb coral banded shrimmp bit him ughh... ima kill that shrimp killed my lobster and fish...

    Sorry to hear that man.. Id try to see of the LFS or a local reefer will take in that CBS... Maybe you can get some store credit if you really want him gone...
