well my 55 gallon has had GHA for about 4 months now. ive tried everything, ten gallon water changes a week, less feeding (every other day-every three days), so ive decided to review my plans for a reef tank im gonna do a.....wait for it........ MACRO ALGAE TANK! since my tank seems to be good at growing algae, i might as well make it nice looking algae.

nothings died in my tank for about 4 months either, and i got that out about an hour after it happened and did a 15 gallon water change. im using RO/Di with a TDS of 0.

look for plans on Algae Turf Scrubbers. Get the best of both worlds. I run one as do some of the other members & havent had an algae issue since. I had macro's in my DT and sump but they have really slowed growth since adding my ATS. I do like the look of some macros in the tank personnally. It breaks up the manufactored look some tanks have imo.

im gonna have some corals, just not a tank full (dont have the money for that anyways...) the left and right sides will be macro infested, the center and sand will be for corals. i like the look of feather and grape caulerpa, its easy to grow, and will out compete my GHA for food. perfect solution for me. ill keep it trimmed so it wont overrun my corals in the center (all sofites) and corals on the sand (softie/Lps).

please please please read up on caulerpa and make an educated decision on adding them to a DT. caulerpa can grow just as invasive as GHA can and probably close as fast in some circumstances. plus you have to take into the more caulerpa you add the more your risk of it going asexual and then the real problems begin
