    with a 24"x12"x12" aquarium what design would u go for? I am using this for a 50 Gallon tank and was wondering what is the best way to incorporate both systems in this small space....My other option is to do 2 of these tanks but i think it will look messy.

    I have a 24 inch lighting fixture that runs the length of the tank and im worried that too much light may get into the sump and cause algal growth. Any help will be much appreciated.

    Your DT is 24 x 12 x 12, Given that you have space below, I would get a custom tank of 23 x 11 x 12.

    This is what I did. My DT is 48w x 18d x 24h, I made a custom sump/refug
    47w x 15d x 18h. I made it exactly what would fit under the cabinet. Luna

    My understanding is, he has a 50G DT and his sump/refg tank is 24x12x12

    I am very interested in this question as I have a 40G breeder for my display and a 20G long for my sump/refg. So I will just tag along on this thread. {not hijack just tag along}

    Do you need to put a skimmer into this fuge/sump as well, or just the fuge/sump?

    If it is just fuge/sump, what I would do is just put an eggcrate baffle on one end leaving enough room for your return pump to fit between the eggcrate and the end of the sump. Then the rest of the sump is fuge. The eggcrate will keep the chaeto from flowing into the return pump.

    If you need a skimmer section also, just put the skimmer section on the other end of the sump with a solid baffle, the chaeto will trap the bubbles from the skimmer and you still have as large of a fuge as possible.

    i think thsoe plants are mangroves...i could be wrong. I really like this setup but im not sure how i can make this small scale with a 24 inch aquarium...maybe i should just start off with a 24 inch refugium and use my aqua clear for mechanical filtration....hmmmmmmmm

    I have a reef set up. Bio balls are fine for corals. The plants are Mangroves as Limerboy mentioned.

    You dont have to make it exactly like mine or the same demensions. If your going to have a refugium, I wouldnt bother with a filter(aqua-clear). Just incorparate a filter pad somewhere in your design.

    Yes all glass and its a heavy sob too. Luna
