Please dont take my first post as being a smarta$$ but thats what I would do.

To tackle this question we need to be more educated into what were talking about, what size tank, what kind of stocking (reef, FO, seahorse, etc), what kind of physical skimmer size restraints are there if any, internal, external, what other forms of filtration are being used, what size sump to suppliment it? Is this this for a real tank or just a dream tank? Its a very opened ended question.

That's why it is open-ended. It is a very broad question with an endless amount of possible answers.

Even if the tank is even 270 gallons, I am not going to spend 2 grand on a skimmer.

I (and probably nobody else on this forum) would not buy a skimmer for 2K if there is one for a few hundred that will do the job just as well.

I am not going to use the same protein skimmer on my 29 gallon FOWLR as I would on the 265 reef tank.

Why spend so much money on one piece of equipment?

Do you have 2 grand cash you want to spend and a skimmer is the only thing you need? I don't understand why you are asking this?

    regradless of tank size..... hmmm.

Would I spend $2k on a skimmer for a 10gal nano? sure would
Would I spend $2k on a skimmer for my backyard 100,000 gal whale tank? absolutely not.

In other words I think this is a 'bvb' (RiP) style dream thread that lacks realistic goals or applications. I think I am going to go ahead and sign out of this thread.

Are you asking what skimmer we would choose if money was not a factor?

I would get a trigger systems skimmer or deltec and a amazing sump to go with.

Protein skimmers make bubbles. Spending lots of money won't make better bubbles. However, if your looking for the 'best' because you can, then go with the supermarin. Gets awesome reviews and you'll have no worries that you have an awesome skimmer :)

If I am restricted to the list you provide,....then my choice it the BK Deluxe. I mean. I mean if you are paying and giving me my choice, I'm choosing the BK Deluxe. Especially if you promise to pay for any problems that may arise. Now that being said If you are buying but not supporting the product after, I am on my knees beggin to let me add the ATB Deluxe to that list!
