    Nice twists
    Soft Cell's Tainted Love was huge in my first year of college, in fact the song was number one longer than any other song ever.

    I believe Soft Cell version is actually a cover from a 60's group.

    Wow that is quite the list, maybe it was total time on the charts. I remember something about that song. I do remember hearing it on the radio often and for a very long time.

    I would have thought one of "Floyd's" would have been there.

    Yes, there is something about the list that is not sitting well with me. More research may be in order.

    O.k. found this, so I think you were almost correct 2in10;
    Soft Cell's single “Tainted Love” achieved success by reaching the #1 spot in 17 different countries around the world. It then went on to set a Guiness World record for longest stay on the Billboard top 100 at 43 weeks. Then the band started writing non-hits. Constant drug use eventually took its toll and the band broke up. In and out of rehab the band finally collaborated again in the 1990’s and eventually reunited to play shows in the early 2000’s, unfortunately the word “taint” had taken on a whole new meaning by then and new listeners thought they were a musical comedy group.

    It doesn't say #1, just that it stayed in the top 100.

    Floyds Dark Side of the Moon spent the most weeks on the charts than any other album in history at 761 consecutive weeks. And I am not sure Guiness World record Tainted love broke becasue it wasn't longest Stay in the top 100 becasue that honor is held buy 76 weeks - Jason Mraz — "I'm Yours" (2008) for song and Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men — "One Sweet Day" (1995) for most weeks at #1

    Yes, knew about Dark Side of the Moon (of course!) but things are sketchy when it gets narrowed down to one song at #1 and how long.
