Dude you have no idea. It took about 50 PMs to get here. You may not know this, but there are actually people out there that keep fish just to run a protein skimmer.

Well Sparky..... the first step is admitting you have a problem.....;D

I'm in the same boat lol. I'm trying to justify buying a $5-6k laser engraver to make acrylic stuff. ;D

I got my K2 up and running. It was packed well and a breeze to put together. My sump was much tighter than I thought. It's 11x18. I had to do some rearranging.

Here is the comparison of old and new.

I finally got it shoe horned in.

Got the water level here for now. You can see where the sticker is, but I have no idea what the measurement is.

Last, just sitting there breaking in.

I still have some work to do setting water level and a platform. I very happy with the build. I don't want to say it isn't a good quality, but everything pales sitting next to a BK. So far everything is good, just needs to break in.

Are you saying you think the BK is going to beat this one out? (Or are you just talking appearance?)

The BK 160 pulls 600 lph of air. The K2 does 1100 lph. So no, I don't think the BK will out perform the K2. I'm just saying the BK is a flippin' work of art. Everything is so beefy. Lots of CNC work on parts. Just....wow. It makes the K2 look cheap, but the K2 is very well built. Not cheap at all. Very good quality.... I'm just saying....

Kind of like a a new Corvette parked next to a Lamborghini.

I can go on about BKs, but seriously build is not performance. BKs are very well designed and perform very well. I got that one cheap, I would never buy new. My K2 is a blem for $100 off plus shipping. I still like deals. I just trade up.

One thing for sure is that there are some very well performing skimmers on the market today and you do not have to pay a fortune. Cones are just the latest tweak, I don't see them as a fundamental change. You can still get great skimmers for $200-$300.

Looks good, and you should be getting about double the performance now. Just curious, what was the blemish on this unit?
