Ummmm.... honestly, I'm not sure. The original complaint was a glue joint not correct/excessive with pics. But that is not on mine. Looks great to me. I will look even better when it is covered in fish poo :D

Perhaps they just wanted a sale.8)

I know what you mean. Lamborghini's look so great on the internet until you park it next to a new Corvette, or it catches on fire driving down the highway.

    <--- Corvette enthusiast. ;D

Sweet new skimmer by the way!

I'm not one to think in terms of numbers. Perhaps I was not at the limit of the 160, in which case all I have bought is more head room. Skimmers only pull out so much.

I did want the head room though. All my fish are young and will get bigger. I want all the air I can get being at altitude. And I do feel the cone will give a better quality foam head operating at the lower end of the capacity.

    We shall soon see!!!

Oh ya, I got thing working better. Raised it a bit. It's pulling 900 lph right now. Time to get my hands out of the water and let it run.

Looks good. Did you put it on a shelf to lift it up in the sump a bit?

I got a more peranent stand with some egg crate. I will probably take out a coupl piecese to get it lower. My sump is 10". The skimmer likes 7-9. It is at 7 5/8s now. Pulling crap. Breaking in. I was going to give it a week before I start tweaking it. Once I get it dialed in, I think I will do a write up.

Thought an update was in order. I will still do a write up when everything is said and done.

    So....problems first....

My Sicce pump was quite noise at first. Seems to be a common trait, but they do break in and quiet down, which mine did. There was an issue though with the volute being a bit loose, which did not give me total confidence.

The air draw was a little lower than spec, but again, it will break in and get to spec. Well, after fiddling with the pump because of the above concerns, it changed. Air draw fell off a couple of hundred lph. I'm getting 700 instead of the 900 I was getting.

Long story short.... Jon at WM has been a huge help and takes all the time I ask to get my questions answered. He sent me a new impeller, but it did not slove the problem of low air draw. After exhaustive discussion, we are both completely puzzled. He is sending me out a new pump after testing to insure it is up to spec. I expect it tomorrow.

Seems the only thing we can come up with is that there was some shavings onthe venturi that I cleaned up. I did not take that much material off. Niether of us believe this to be the issue, but the fact that it was at spec before this and not after has us baffled.

So, the K2 has not been operating at spec, but is pulling more air than the 160 I had.

    The good......

The skimmer is operating very well. Turbulence is very reduced. Mezmerizing to just watch a uniform flow of bubble rising in the skimmer. Pump is quiet, air draw noise is reasonable for the flow. Silencer works well.

The gate valve is a very nice valve. Huge range of precise adjustment. Not at all finicky to do exactly what you want with water level. The cup cleaning is decent, and the screw lock is VERY smooth and provides a positive seal for the cup.

So far I'm very happy, and can't wait to get the pump figured out. I absolutely have no hesitation in recommending Warner Marine products. The customer service is truely 100% top notch.
