I got it yesterday and have tried feeding it 4x. I have only seen it eat 1 little bit of mysis shrimp today. It is also not very active. It just sits around and hops around a little bit. Do you think it is just getting used to its new home and will eat good when its ready? I also have some raw shrimp in the freezer and thought about putting a little piece in there for it to snack on.

Thanks in advance for the replies!

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Give him a couple of days before you start to worry, it is common for new to not eat while acclimating.

What type of goby is it?

I've had an orange-spotted goby for a couple of months now. I've seen it eat maybe 4 times. It's definitely eating, because its belly is fat & gets fatter after every feeding. It's just a shy eater, apparently, and eats in the back or something where we can't see it.

As for it just sitting & hopping, that's what they do. They perch & hop.

A piece of shrimp is going to be too big for it to eat. The food I've seen mine actually eat has been bloodworms (saw it eat one or two 3 different times), and once a piece of mysis. When it realizes it just ate in front of me, it stops LOL.

Keep an eye on its belly, and make sure that it doesn't start looking sunken in, and try brine shrimp, mysis, and most of all bloodworms (try to get the mini ones). Don't feed it a large piece of shrimp, it won't peck at it or anything and the shrimp will just cause ammonia in your tank as it rots.

My goby has been doing fine. I see him eat alot and he is more active. Today I came home and noticed the webbing between the fin closest to his head was missing on the first 2 sections. There is also some kind of white stuff on the bottom of the sections. I have a 6" magnifying glass that I use to observe stuff in my tank and I can get a pretty good look at it. He did eat good tonight and is breathing normally. I have 2 clowns and a peppermint shrimp in the tank with him. The clowns are very friendly to him and the shrimp are best buds lol. I dont think it was the fish or shrimp that messed his fins up. Any idea what happened? Will the webbing grow back?

My 6-spot goby shredded one of his fins on a rock in my tank a couple weeks after we got him. Perfectly fine now.
