you mentioned the installation of the new pump. 6hrs for glue drying may have not have been enough. that stuff can be really toxic initially depending on the type. just a thought. deep sorrows for your loss, best of luck

My guess was dirty PVC when it was installed. Has anyone looked at the crap and dust in new PVC. There no telling what that stuff is.

If that purple primer was the Oatley stuff I've used that primer and cement with as little as 10min. dry time not that that is suggested. It didn't have any ill effects on the tank.

    Hi,

I was using a refugium to maintain PH but recently replaced it with a Schuran Jetstream Pico calcium reactor. Up on start up per manufacturers directions I filled the bubble counter about 3/4 full with RO water but notices that water inters the red tubing which allows CO2 gas to enter the reactor chamber and water small quantity of water flows back into the bubble counter. I have reduced the water level in the bubble counter twice but the water level continues to rise.

It seems that when no CO2 gas is entering the bubble counter small quantities of reactor chamber water flows backward into the bubble counter. I have made several adjustments of the inlet water and regulator tape valve (increasing and decreasing) the amount of water that flows through the reactor chamber to see if this would prevent it but the water level in the bubble counter always raises within a day or so.

If anyone has advice on how to prevent this from happening?

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, that iodine test can be pretty difficult to read (and a real pain to do). 3 recommendations for you. First is to put in a grounding probe. Second is to do water changes about every other day and only about half of what you would do (more frequent, but smaller). Third is when you do a water change, change out your carbon and if you can get your hands on it some Pura Complete. Use about 2/3 carbon and about 1/3 Pura Complete.

I hope things start getting better for you. This hobby can not only be expensive at times, but also rather frustrating to the point of pulling out your hair. Between times it can be really rewarding. Right now I have a tank full of frags that I am trying to get to grow out. BTW another piece of advice--if you can't test for it---don't add it. Vitamin C can be rather acidic, be extremely cautious on adding it and if there has been a test developed to see how much is in your tank, test for it.

    Good luck and happy reefing.

Could you have been cleaning something else around the house and without thinking stuck your hands into the tank???
