Hey guys I'm back from a long temporary relocation from Puerto Rico. My company tried to set-up a new optical lab down there, after months and months my bosses finally saw it my way and said that the venture wasn't going to work. So now I'm back.

I spent so much time working that I didn't get to do much of anything. To make things worse, while I was gone I got some sort of out break in my tank and lost everything. My wife called me several times about it but she couldn't tell me what was wrong.

Looks like I get to start all over again. Any way I'm sorry that when I left I didn't say anything. I truly didn't think it would take so long.

Looks like a lot of new things have come about since I was here last. It's going to take some time to get caught up though. Anyway, glade to be back home, and back on 3REEF.

    Welcome back! [smiley=beer.gif]

Sorry to hear about the losses in your tank. I know that's gotta be tough to deal with. Karma to you.

Glad to see you back Phil. And sorry bout your tank. Too bad also about the expansion to PR not that is seems that you wanted to be down there but growth is good usually.

Anyway you have a lot of reading to do and let us know if you need any advise for the restart of your tank

Thanks guys, it is truly good to be back. As much as I want to restart the tank, I need to see what happened to it in the first place. During the extended weekend I plan to dig deep into the tank to look for the cause; be it an equipment malfunction, some sort of an out break or a combination of all the above. I'll keep y'all posted.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone on 3REEF! ;D

OK guy's, I had some time to look at the tank to see what happened. I had a snail get into the pump and it got jammed into the impeller causing the pump to stop working. This caused an algae outbreak and killed the tank off. I had a Fluval 404 I used for a carbon filter. It just wasn't enough to keep the tank alive. Live and learn, next time I'll use some sort of prefilter.
