    Hi everyone,

It's been awhile since I started my own thread. And I do apologize for being such an antagonist lately. But this news is pretty exciting, as anyone who has experienced this could imagine.

I've never been able to keep an anemone alive longer than a little over a month. The one I did have for about 5 weeks was killed by me accidentally after I ripped its foot. I tried another one after that and in 3 days it literally vanished.

Months later, at a local reef club meeting, the host had 4 rose bubble tip anemones. She started with one and they split several times. She wanted to git rid of at least one of them. Anyone who has been in this hobby for awhile knows that rose bubble tips are very, VERY expensive. Small ones for for over $150 where I am. She sold me this giant for $30:

That's a full grown tang swimming in front of it.

This was earlier this year, around March. So since I can say the anemone is still alive, I have finally found success in keeping one alive! Not only that...but...well....BEHOLD!!!!

    The proud mother:

    And her beautiful child!!!!!!!!

I have succeeded not only in keeping her alive, but she decided her habitat was suitable enough to create another. I am deeply moved and just ecstatic about what I have managed. Yes, my corals grow by leaps and bounds. Yes I haven't lost a fish in over a year. Yes, I finally have the tank I have always wanted, 125 gallons:

(Crappy FTS I know, more to come later)

But in the end, I have had a birth by my own creation of a habitat, and ecosystem. And for that, I am grateful to every one of you. 3reef has helped me and I hope to help in return.

Thank you for reading my post and sharing in this amazing event in my life. I am, for now, without any more words...

Ok I lied. I owe this pic to missionsix and everyone who voted for me in the last POTM contest. Here's my shirt!!!

Oops on me. The title of the thread should be "I'm breaking up with you ONCE and for all!" I'm a stickler for spelling and grammar...sorry

That's not a full grown yellow tang by any means... congrats on the RBTA.

The pic makes the tang look small, because the anemone is a giant. But with a quick check on liveaquaria, yea you're actually right about that. Personally I've never seen a tang 8 inches long, but apparently they can get up there. I just got a wrinkle of knowledge in my brain. Thanks!!

    Full grown tang

At any rate thanks for the congrats.

A couple things, yes. For instance in my old 46 gallon and even the 72 gallon I had 2 175w MHs over them (with supplemental actinics). This one (the 125 gallon) has 3 250w MHs. Also the anemone that I kept alive for 5 weeks before was in my 46 gallon which did not have a refugium OR a sump. This anemone has benefited from having those installed in all the tanks it has lived in (the woman who sold it to me and my tanks as well have all had a fuge and sump).

So yes, the changes I have made were to increase my lighting, add a sump, and employ a refugium.

You might be interested to know, however, that I haven't had a protein skimmer for about 8 months now. A little food for thought.... :)

Thats not a RBTA, thats called "Sherman Rose Anemone", its a Long Tentacle Anemone (LTA). They are known to be a PITA because they split so often. Be prepared to have a farm of them.

That is great news Brandon1023, that LTA looks really healthy. Congrats on the longevity of your creatures and I hope it continues. Great pics BTW. Dont be a stranger, just b/c you have a life doesnt mean that you can have these long absences. Luna
