The 210 has no sunlight touching it whatsoever. Can't do the sea hare as it is a predator tank and they would make short work of it. I can't even keep snails or hermits. The only things the fish do not touch are my 4 large pencil urchins. They are about the size of baseballs and I think they are the only reason I don't have a complete HA forest. I'm going to try rinsing and re rinsing my food before adding. The light is a 72" 2x96 pc fixture.

I also tried pulling the rock out and scrubbing. That worked on the worst of it but it won't go away entirely. Every water change I do the toothbrush scrub followed by swishing my net to try and get most of the floating algae. Every other day I grab the turkey baster and try and blow off the gunk on the rocks so it can get caught by filter socks.

I hear about flow helping also. I have 2 seio's and 2 maxi jet 1200's running along with the return flow. It's just getting really annoying to look at both tanks and see one looking like crap. A lot of people say that HA gives tanks a natural look but I would rather have the coraline showing instead of the HA covering it up. I have been wanting to add mushrooms from my 75 as they are taking over in some spots but the thought of them getting wasted by algae keeps me from introducing them. I know that of all the problems I have run into in the 3 years I have been in this hobby, HA is the WORST !!

Have you tested the Nitrates and what skimmer are you using ? you said its a predator tank then I'm sure its a nutrient sinkhole You need a hell of a skimmer and a phosphate and carbon reactor and even Ozone or a good U/V the 0'3 would do more to help. Also have you truly identified the algae as to species and know exactly what you are dealing with ? With L/R used it could be a bad one to kill off..

All F/O are a pain to keep algae clean .. and a predator fish tank just make it twice as hard just from their diet and food added to the tank .
