That is the downside. Unless you make it permanent and silicone all around it so none of the detritus can get caught inbetween. Luna

ok ive gone BB i cut the polyboard with a jigsaw. its currently inplace in the tank. the only thing i dislike is that the board does float. but luckily its not that boyunt a small rock will hold it down. but i have to say i do like it so far if every thing keeps going swimingly i think i will do polyboard in all my future tanks. in future however i will use silicone to attach the board and fill in the cracks, like luna suggested, but i couldn't do it now seeing how theres fish in the tank
right now im enjoying myself by pointing the power heads straight down, it feels so naughty lol. no more sand storms ever!!!!!!!!!!!

IF i had to do anything different i would have bought 1" cutting boards instead of 1/2" so the board is flush with the trim and if this was a new tank i would use silicon to fill in the cracks. Also i would measure better lol.

One thing I would recommend is not to have it resting on th silicone. It should have a small gap between the edges. This way the board will lay flat on the bottom of your tank. If it is right to the edge it will be contacting your edges and putting pressure there. The few reefers I know that run bare bottom use the gap along the edge like a gutter to siphon out the detritus. I really do not know if I would silicone it down to the bottom. Just my opinion. I will be finishing my new tank in a few weeks with BB.
