Oh yea, It's a lot of fun! You are completely right, and I'm trying hard not to rush anything too quickly. Trying to go as slow as I possibly can lol.

+1 for me, no wife or kids yet! At least for now, its all my money. lol

I'm inching closer to that mark... and I don't even have any expensive fish or corals in the tank yet!

I don't know why but this cause uncontrollable bouts of the giggles. You sir, are
    getting some Karma!

And to the OP: A budget is the only thing that will save you. In all seriousness - what happens if you lose your job tomorrow? I went way overboard when I started and had I just paced myself, I'd be a much happier man.

Slow and steady wins the race - besides, that awesome pump/skimmer/do-hickey will always be there tomorrow, and probably a little bit cheaper to boot :)

I decided long ago to stop adding up the receipts. It got in the way of the enjoyment.

This one is from earlier in the week. The cyno is pretty much all gone now, and I didn't change a single thing! There are a LOT of green spots starting to form everywhere now, pretty sure its the beginning of a coralline takeover, its not GHA. In other good news, my hitch hiking brittle star that has been MIA for a month popped his tentacles out of hiding today!

Cyano typically hits a newly set up tank. then it goes away with usually the same fervor it came into the tank with.

My cyano is close to all gone, and I did nothing to "treat " it.

i'm broke too! in my tank's 4 months i've probably spent about 2k on equipment lr and ls, now a little bit more since i have fish and inverts and soon coral. It's hard living off $1000 a month and having other big bills to pay off. But this hobby is really worth going broke over.

By the way, tank looks real good

At least you still live with the 'rents right? Try being on your own since 17 and owning your own house (mortgage) and try to have a SW tank::)! Bills only multiply with more responsibility. I wish I had $1000 a month to work with!
I have grown to like Ramen, mac and cheese, PB&j, rice and mashed taters....I have to like em or else, lol. But the way I figureis I live in Michigan (a wasteland for jobs) and I work at Walmart (very underpaid) but I have a home, paid bills and all of our (my three dogs, three ferrets, bf and I)bellies are full. My tank may not be as flashy as everyone elses, and I may not have as nice of equipment or corals or livestock....but Im happy. ;D
