I re-wrote my earlier post 3 times to be as diplomatic as possible.

The enthusiasm that comes with hobby can lead to impulse buys, we all know, we all have done it.

I cringe everytime I see an octo for sale, because I know first hand how intelligent they are. But everyone should have the experience if they aware of the needs, basic care and requirements. It should never be an impulse buy though, the octopus pays the price.

Honest attempts at advise were initially given and then things went down hill with lame jokes. I don't appreciate pile-ons here. It reflects bad on you and this site. Clean it up please. After the first couple pages there was no reason for this to continue.
