    Sand is probably the cheapest thing in my tank aside from the food I buy. Don't want to skimp on something so basic.

    LOL it's been months since I ordered my sand so I'd say missing it by a buck ain't bad :p

    I like xmetal's and ZachB's logic...if you can't afford the sand, how on earth are you going to put together a 55g saltwater aquarium?

    I picked up my Samoa pink (120 pounds) for .95 cents a pound at the LFS.

    for a 55 you shouldnt spend more than 100 bucks..

    in my 150 i only spent about 150+ bucks. which means that it should be a lot cheaper for you. I used live sand too.

    you can check the sand at home depot
