im impressed

today my $70 ebay protein skimmer came!! im wayyyy more impressed then i thought i would be!! it came with a ton of free bees too! here are the pics. i have no complaints other then the tube that sucks air to make bubbles isnt sucking air its just full of water

 

also i have no idea what that black plastic box is for... spare parts FTW

 

I had one of those oddysea skimmers,it worked pretty good,better than a sea clone by far.Does your air hose attatch to the center barb on the powerhead?

 

In all honesty- your water line needs to be higher. Reason- cut down on the bubbles, your getting O2 natively from the skimmer- you dont need bubbles to cause problems. I would advise a power head or two up top to agitate the water surface.

 

my tank is completely empty its not even cycling yet also the apparatus for the skimmer that makes bubbles isnt working

 

hey in the box with the powerhead, you should have another end piece thing, it has like 5 little tubes inside of it, that the venturi piece that makes the micro bubbles that skims..u need to place the airline tube on the end of one of the little tubes...also u need to run another airline tube coming from the place u have the airline tube too also running the skimmer, this will return the bubbles that are released from the pump.. if this sounds confusing pm me and i can send u some pics of my old one i used to have and it worked awesome..

on the venturi piece im talking about, the end that has the tubes coming out of the piece is the end u insert into the pump..

Exactly,the center thingy is NOT drilled from the factory.My intake had 3 other barbs to put the airline on,once I switched it on to one of those it worked like a champ.Plus your airhose is seriously kinked.

 

ya its pretty knarled up haha if i blow on the hose it bubbles tho..
