The algae left in the display tank seems to be dyeing, there is nothing for it to eat so I would assume it should die. However, I have 2 sets of zoas that survived and are just now starting to open. Do you think high intensity light is good for bringing them back or bad?

Probably, try them low in the tank at first though

    Update*

So the zoas are double their size already under 12 hrs of light, 2-3mm, they were receding previously. However the algae is still growing rapidly. I will not cut down the hours on the tank because I want to save my green bay packer zoas. I did a 75% water change with 100% rodi water and oceanic salt. What is the algae using to live? I have no live stock! Is the tank re-cycling? Did the darkness kill most of the beneficial bacteria? I have a protein skimmer; and an aqueon 55 gal HOB filter converted to grow (forgot the name) some safe aquatic plant and it is doing well under a 6700k led strip light on 24/7. Sorry no test kit, but i will get one and test. What do I do if the levels are still high? What is the algae living off? No red slime or anything just GHA.

Sounds to me like your tank is going through a "new" phase since you've re-introduced light. Give it a month or 2. I know it sucks now but I think if you keep up what you're doing the algae should die off, especially if you're not feeding the tank anything and taking the algae out every once and a while.
