My wife and I have too move her 20 gal. tank every fall and spring from her classsroom to home. We never clean the substrate and always save the original water and do a water change after it has been all setup. My suggestion would be to have extra saltwater on hand cause every time we seem to be short a couple gallons. Good luck!

I think that as long as you use saltwater to clean the arg. you should be fine. If you would use fresh water, then you will kill off the bac and go through a small cycle.

your gonna disrupt the bacteria levels of sand regardless. when i move a tank, i wash the sand in fresh water alot. and i mean alot. so that when its put back in the new setup its brand new. that way the NH's wont skyrocket
