i think he just meant moving the tank after you guys have moved all the furniture and other items. this way the tank can be the focus on whichever day you move it.

by the way, i meant to include in my other posts that i have never moved a tank so keep that in mind as you read my advice. :)

When i moved mine i went to lowes and got 5gal buckets. put my rock in three of them and filled the bucket the rest of the way with tank water. emptied the rest of the tank water into 5g jugs. the fish went into glad containers and into a cooler with a heat pack. i left about 2inches of water over the sand in the tank. in all was about 2 hour trip with about a four hour set up afterwards. didnt have any problems with cycles after it was set up

    oh :D lol ok

well, actually we are moving the tank first, and then hopefully next week the rest of the furniture. so in a way, I am taking care of the tank alone.

the reason is because there are some windows in the house they are fixing ( not near the tank space) but mom said she wants to wait for them to get fixed.
in the meantime she said to move the tank now that i am in spring break and they will be moving in next week.

and yes, they will be having to come and go to feed them but she said it was ok so.

Regarding the fish in particular, I would put them in 5 gallon buckets that have been scrubbed and rinsed with RO or tank water. Also, I would put an air-stone in each bucket containing fish to keep O2 levels up. Also make sure temperatures stay relatively close to the tank temp. Also, be sure to only put fish together who get along or aren't likely to fight.

I would concentrate mostly on keeping your live rock live and your fish alive. Preventing LR die off will mitigate any cycle and it will help make the transition for your fish better. Try to keep the water circulating with a powerhead and to keep the temp right.

Other than that, you need to make a plan for what you're going to do for water. This is what I would do: buy two 55gallon trashcans and find something that you can put them on and wheel them over with. There are bottoms made for certain 55g trashcans that have wheels. Otherwise I would use some sort of cart or wagon or dolly. So, wheel the 100g of water over. Next, take the sand out and throw most of it away. Keep a good scoop for seeding. Then move the tank over. Put the 100g of water back into the tank. Get the temp up and get some good circulation going. Then add the LR. Then add the new sand and seed it. Then use RO water and make up 50 gallons of new water. Then let the cloudiness from the new sand settle for several hours, maybe overnight. And then add the fish.
if the fish's temp is right and they have decent circulation with a piece if LR they should be fine overnight.

Hope this helps. Good luck with the move.
