    Hey Everyone,
I will be moving this weekend! On one hand I'm excited because we're moving to a MUCH bigger house (living in a condo now). Once moved my 265 is going up! Picking up the pump and sand tomorrow. ;D The thing I'm not excited about is moving my current tanks. Any helpful tips? I got lucky and am only moving like 5 mins down the freeway, still nervous regardless though.

Do you have some relax time during the move where you can set up the tank and get it ready for the move?

Lots and lots of buckets.....and then more buckets than you think you need. LOL! I moved a couple of months ago and the process went like this...

remove corals - place into buckets with water/lid
remove live rock - place into buckets with water/lid
remove fish - place into buckets with water/lid
remove water - We transferred all water with a large (200g) vat and pump
    breakdown tank/sand/sump

drove to the new place and did the same as above, but in reverse order. This was an all day process. Took from 7am to about 3pm until everything was back in the tank.

Worked well and didnt lose anything.

This is a painful backbreaking procedure, when moving your tank have someone dedicated to help! Allow more time than you think you will need. Be prepared to lose something or I should say make unwanted frags! To be honest I would rather pay my lfs to do it next time...

+1 to lots of buckets. At the beginning of the summer I moved about 5 min down the road with school and everything. Packed it all up in buckets and left a little water bareley enough to cover the sand in the tank and everything made it. Granted I only have a 29 gal so the weight of the tank, sand, and water wasn't too bad with the help of another person.

Awesome! I actually have a TON of buckets and barrels.

Yes, thank goodness! My husband and I have been working hard all week to get everything packed so we can focus on the tanks only this weekend. Thanks for the ideas everyone!
