This is probably correct. IMPO i would go with the t5s. I might be wrong but I think the bulbs last longer, they put out more par, they do not run as hot, and they use less energy. I would for sure research it further, and also look into what corals you would like to eventually add down the road and see what kind of lighting and flow is recomended for them. Its better to buy what you need the first time. I would look in the nano thread and see what most people there use. do not take anyones word for "gold" as there are many right ways to do things. this is just my opinion and I recomend further research on your part.

I agree with you. There is no rush to get lights now anyway. Patience is key in this hobby.

You could buy a 24" T5 unit with 4 bulbs. This would give you a far better choice of bulbs and a better unit if you don't mind a little overhang. Go to Reefgeek to check out the fixtures. A good bulb purchase would be 2 ATI Blue plus, ATI Aquablue special and 1 UVL Actinic White. The order would be from front to back blue plus, actinic white aquablue, blue plus. You could also get the geissmann equivalents but they cost more. You would be able to keep anything you wanted under those lamps.

    BTW welcome to 3reef.

If you buy the fixture from them you can get the fixture and bulbs for very cheap.

I saved about 60$ on bulbs when I ordered my teklight w/ bulbs from them.
