Is this in anyway related to the FW African butterfly fish?

im thinking butterflyfish may be a bit delicate for a predator tank, in this case he should be thinking triggers, puffers, boxfish, groupers and other fish of the sort.

Yes but most of these fish would get to large, he can only have the smaller "predator tank" fish. And the species I listed are pretty hardy for butterflyfish:)

true indeed, i would suggest maybe a toby, another couple options would be dwarf lions, hawkfish, maybe some smaller trigger temporarily, a dwarf angel. any of those would most likely work.

+1 You have just blown my mind! I was wrong about this site I looked up some pictures of those fish and they were incredible! Yellow dwarf angel looks amazing! Dwarf lions are awesome, and I wouldn't mind putting a Lyretail Hawkfish in there. Thanks!

Wow! I'm surprised this didn't get closed down awhile ago.

Anyway, your stocking list actually looked quite doable to me with the exception of the inverts. Most of the fish would happily make a meal of your shrimp, and the eel could go after the crabs in the future. One of the trade offs that has to sometimes be accepted with aggressive tanks is that you will have to do more of the cleaning. This is usually worth it though for the personalities of non reef fish.

Do you have a current list of what you're considering now that you could post.

Don't let this type of thread get you down or push you off the site. For the most part, the people on this Site are the best you will find.

Off topic posts have been deleted. Word of warning. If I ever see this kind of behavior on 3Reef again, everyone involved will be affected, not just those who are being accused of "starting it." This is not grade school so let's not act like it.
