Long week end. :-/ 20 hours in the car 10 in the hospital and back home with my loot.

Guess eventually I'll put water in here and then I can start a thread on building this, but for now I just get to move it one more time and get the basement done. Then all I need is a DIY sump and a protein skimmer.

Ok here is what I think you are saying. You spent 20 hours driving to go to a hospital to break down a tank that took you 10 hours to break it down. But you got to come home with it!! If this is correct....congrats! What size tank is it and why did the hospital get rid of it, how much did you have to pay and how did you come across such a score? If this guess isn't right tell us what you mean!

LOL, guess it is all on what you already know when you type something. Bought the tank from a friend whom I helped set it up years ago. 10 hour drive is right, I spent the night in the ER (nothing serious) and drove back with the stuff.

I need to careful with a post like that, guess there are a lot of ways to read it!

It is a 120 gallon, got everything in the pics plus a few other odds and ends for $500, plus the gas and the ER bill. Insurance will deal with that.

Still sounds like a sweet deal!! Keep us updated as the tank gets set up. Is it acrylic or glass.....glass is so much heavier and I don't evny you moving it down stairs!

    Somewhat bittersweet.

I got him into the hobby about 10 years ago and he took to it like all us die hards. Bought a used 55 and went through the trial by fire and about 8 yrs ago bought this tank. I helped with the equipment and I know he takes care of thing too...any way bittersweet because yes it is a great deal. On the other side I know how much he put into this and now there is one less fish nut with a tank. Moved this tank more times then I care to admit before I bought it. And yes it is glass. Pics will be coming hopefully in 09!!!

Why 09? Why not take pics as you set it up? Unless you aren't setting it up until then!

Been putting off finishing the basement so I gotta get that done first. On top of that no place to put another tank until the basement is done.

He just couldn't find a place in his new house that he (wife) could put it. It's a bigger house then he had, but in Texas they don't have any basements so that limits it a bit.
