Oh yeah, I member that. eeeeeck! that's sick. When I was talking about the "bad" lfs owners, I was talking about the ones that would look at their customers while the were talking but just let the info go through 1 ear and out the other. Sorta like the one that sold me a picasso trigger telling me that it would be just fine in A: a 55 gallon tank and B: a reef at that. That guy is no longer in business around here and I'm sure it's not coincidence. My boss where I worked would go out of his way, and at times, lose money to do the right thing for the customer. I'm not saying good ones aren't out there, I'm just saying that they are few and far between. I will stand by that one, but it's not all of them and I do appologize for that blanket statement.

Good call on the grounding probe. I had a hippo die recently and couldn't find the cause. I added a grounding probe after testing some voltage in my water. My tangs don't seem to like Nori. I don't get it. I leave it in there for them to munch on all day. Same thing with lettuce and broccoli. They like flake food and frozen stuff....

egreen = case in point . . . no offense.

google is your friend, all the info you could ever hope for is out there, you just have to find it. if the store you bought the hippo tang from knew you only had a 36 gallon tank I wouldn't give them any more business.

That kind of behavior is the parents' fault. Not the kid's or the movie's.

I honestly didn't think this was a totally rude post. You had made a lot of good points in your first, non-edited post Daniel.
Here is something I like to do when selecting a NEW fish (a species I have never personally kept, whether it be a tang or not) at the LFS. I find one I like, then have them put it on hold. ANY reputable or friendly LFS will hold a fish for you, at least for a day, some even longer. Then go home and google/3reef/whatever that fish. No matter what you think you know about said species. I prefer a lot of the forums, because you get first hand accounts of real people that have actually kept whatever your researching. Then make the decision if the fish is right for you or not. Sometimes it is, sometimes its not. And if its not, then you just saved the possible life of the animal, let alone the headache and loss of money on yourself. And even if its not right, you can discover a lot of different species that are similar that might just be right, or you like even more.

LOL lots or worry about nothing I think as for how long ? I have one here now 12 yrs old was about the size of a kids thumb when I got him and his 199 cousins and they all spent months in a old 55 until I felt they where old and large enough to sell .
I kept this one and gave my sons and daughter one also . Mine here now spent 3 yrs of his live in a 135 then 3 in a 750 gal system then it was back to a 125 until a few yrs ago it was a 37 gal flat back hex for a yr then into a 180 and last April it was in the sump until I moved it to this 90 and at this age of life he is a whopping 5" long if I where a real fisherman I'd say 6" long.. I guess you have a few months .
Take all the stuff you read about fish getting huge with a grain of salt and remember most are just passing on only what have only read . I myself have to this day never had a fish to out grow the tank it was in.. And no aquarium will ever substitute for the ocean. Tang Police LOL

My blue is about 6 years old and until about the last 4 months has only grown to 3 inch's (in a 210) he is now about 5". Maybe it's the Rods food;D You can usually tell if the fish are stressed in a tank by thier behavior. I wouldn't have an issue with a small blue in a 55 for 4 or 5 months.
