I went up to petco intending to buy about $100 worth of LR and so i go up there and the guy bags it all up and he notices that its 11 dollars a pound. So he says, you know what ill give you the lowest bar code which is 9 dollars. We go to the register, he finds a bar code on the rock that was tied on and it was 18 dollars a pound so he was just like, you know what ill just take 10 dollars and we'll be good. Im like seriously? and he was like ya! haha so i just brought home at LEAST 100 dollars worth or LR for just 10. I usually dont buy from petco but the other store was closed today and i just went for it. And look what happened!

I think its fiji live rock. It has all sorts of algae on it. Green, pink, brown, a little white. Its awsome!

18 dollars a pound is pretty rediculous but i guess they gotta pay for the shipping twice, once to get it to fiji then once to get it back.

it probably will go through a mini cycle, petco rock is pretty clean since is maricultured and not a dead part of a reef.

no you dont need to do it asap, but i would recommend you purchase base rock for the rest of the rock in the tank, as it is much cheaper.

Im sure you can find lr for much much cheaper. i bought mine for 3.50/lb...or you could of just bought one piece and then go base rock with the rest. I'm sorry but I think you spent way too much, just trying to look out for a fellow reefer!!

its true that its alot more but just think of it as being green, by buying man made rock that is maricultured, you helped prevent the removal and erosion of rock on the reef. so K+ for not being like every one else and stealing pieces of the reef.
