well 0 nitrates! finally! I did dose a little last night after not for a few days.. only like 10 drops of smirnoff..

    salinity: 1.024
    ph: 8.3
    temp: 77
    calcium: 380
    mag: 1300
    dkh: 12
    phos: 0
    nitrate: 0
    nitrite: 0
    amon: 0

did upgrade my sump light to 120w CFL so I think that helped too.. drop from 20-0 overnight. my skimmer is quite full for 24hours..

Ok. So what's your plan now?
Are you going to continue dosing?
What about the coral color? Is this mostly a softy tank?
    Water clarity?
Are you still getting the little white things floating?
I know some folks add micro bacter7 with good results in combo with vodka/vinegar.

One of my favorite tanks by SonnyX uses that stuff.
    Daily
    4 drops of Microbacter7(bacteria)
    1.8ml of Vodka

well maybe only dose vodka 1-2 times a week. and only .05ml, Im mostly taking the natural route with chaeto/mangroves/WC's from here on out. All clear floatys are gone after not dosing for a few days. I just added a new purpleberry staghorn 5" SPS frag too tank.. All my softies and LPS in my tank werent affected by dosing. MY high nitrates and dKH was a factor though. but now everything is in normal range. I will still monitor parms and keep this thread updated..

Congrats, glad to see it paid off.

Not to be a big downer but did you doublecheck your last test just in case it was a testing error?

Congrats! I'm just getting caught up on this, and wow did I learn a lot. Thankfully I haven't had this issue, probably due to a huge fuge area with a ton of chaeto. But, if it does, thanks to your post, I would have a solution.

BTW, how is your cyno issue? Did that go away also with the paramters in check now?

still have a little cyano, but it hasn't come back as bad. I did use a turkey baster to blow it off the rocks and such.. Ive cut my daylight hours from 9 to 6daily. as I think 9hour daylight cycle was to much. so we'll see if that helps.

that solved my cyano problem in like 3 days. i left the actinics on the same cycle though. they stay on for 2 hours after the 10ks go out. i know its kinda long, but at least i get to view the tank for a little while.
