How can your buddy that you get into the hobby do better than you? Go figure.
I have to finally admit I need help
Well I have tried everything and I cant keep or grow that darn purple stuff. Yes coralline (my apologies, just fustrated).
I have tried purple up, reef code A&B and reef carbonate to raise alkanility. Nothing has worked but kept my KH and Calcium levels high. i bought rock with coralline and all it does is start to dissapear. I have attached pics of my latest readings. What do I need to do???
I have a 75 gallon with berlin style sump with phos reactor using bio pellets and a skimmer.
Does any one want to chime in?

BTW my buddy has coralline :-[

Calcium (30 drops) over 500ppm

Your KH reading doesn't make any sense. Let's start there. Also, do you know why you would be getting any NH[SUB]3[/SUB] readings?

And what about Mg?

The nitrate is hard to read by the color. I cant tell since 0 and 5 are almost the same color. Sorry about the KH readings its actually 20dKH wich is too high

first of all stop dosing...and do some water changes to get your levels back to normal...

to grow coraline check your lighting...if you have a real blue tank then coraline is difficult to grow..i didnt see much coraline until i went back to a whiter blue spectrum..

Thanks saints. I have stopped dosing for over two months now. I did a 10 gallon water change (i know its not enough) but get the same readings. I have two T8 one 6500k daylight and other actinic and two t5 with the same lighting spectrum

your lights should grow the heck out it.. other than getting your water back to better conditions, you should have coralline everywhere..

coralline needs just as good of water as corals do..

I was minutes from posting a topic on how to slow down the purple stuff in a BC. It is encrusting the overflow to the back of the tank and has to be scraped with a razor.

As of Jan 1st:

0 water changes (top off with tap)
dose once a week with A-B
Stock Oceanic BC lights
Never tested pH, ammonia, nitrate/nitrite (I did the first two weeks)
Test with API Master reef once a week

I prayed for the purple/pink back when the 100g was up and this BC as well...be careful what you wish for.

I know what you mean

Its just that when I see a tank with coralline I see a happy healthy tank. Overgrowing it is the least of my problems. If that ever happens I know how to slow the growth. Ill just do what im doing right now. Lets wait and see. Thanks for the feedback
