ok, so it isn't exactly an impulse buy, my wife and i have been looking for a dog for quite a while. we'd thought we had decided on a Great Dane, had a breeder lined up and everything. then she finds this little guy about a half hour away and we couldn't say no. Solomon the Dane will have to wait a bit...

he's a 4 month old Shiba Inu. we've been calling him Toby. cutest guy ever!

not really, he HATED being stuffed in that bag... on a serious note, after the disappointment with the cat, who couldn't have cared less, this guy loves to watch my tank. what a good boy!

i dont think i know this breed peter. by the name it almost sounds asian. how big is toby now , and how big will he get? do you know any history on the breed? what they were\are used for ? kinda cool learning about what theyre all about. my bernese today are still used as work dogs in the swiss alps , more hauling carts of milk and whatever else they can load on them. but in the middle ages , they were dogs of war. kinda cool background of them. cheers again on your new best friend. lol

you are correct, it is a japanese breed. Shiba means both "little" and "brushwood" and Inu means "dog". so in japanese it is literally called Little Dog, but i may refer to the brushwood definition due to the fact that it was bred to flush out game.

he stands about 10inches at the shoulders right now and weighs about 12lbs. they can get to be about 16 inches tall and 25lbs.
