I just looked it up online, so supposedly:
So wow. Small doggy. That's probably about as small of a dog as I'd ever want to go  Of course, our dog was supposed to be a beagle of similar size, and he turned out to be 65 lbs.

thats what i thought too, maybe he has a thick undercoat, these dogs are known for that so it makes him look bigger than he really is?

the males tend to be a little bigger and heftier. this guys dad was 20 inches at shoulder and about 20 pounds. they are pretty muscular up front so they look like a heavier than they are.

puffer chick, you're right they do have some pretty thick fur, the good news is that Toby love the curry comb. he sits on my lap and rotates so i scratch everywhere! lol what a good doggie.

however, i'm surprised to hear of your experience of crazy shiba's. the reason we were looking so hard at this breed was that they were typically docile and quiet. i guess we were lucky with Toby, hardly makes a peep and is almost too calm for me to believe he's a puppy. dogs are like fish and any animal, they each have their own personality i suppose

potty update: 2 days without an accident, woot. sorry to say, "go potty" has caught on and is going to stick as command of choice.

guess you got a lucky one who likes to be brusehd :D we have about 3 shibas that come into our work quite often and 2 out of 3 of them are pretty crazy, and the two just happens to be male but the one female is really good, and the other two are just crazy for everything even brushing

glad to hear the potty training is going really well

one of the funniest things Toby does. he stretches in the morning before his walk, but then he's too tired to get up so he bellycrawls to the door
