And so, the tears have all run, like the blood shed for you and me
The price paid for us to be free
We don't know the majority of those fallen, those who died
For those of whom we did, we have indeed cried
Was the sacrifice worth it truly? Was it all in vain?
No! The price of peace and liberty are valiant and without stain
Let us remember all those who have given all there is to give, true soldier
For; "No greater love has any man than to give his life for his brother"
    ---Leon---

I dont quote that to talk about it as a response but rather that is a question I have gotten alot.

I can tell you having served my country all across the world, over 4 continents and enough countries I lost count that I have seen alot of different ways of life, cultures and the way alot of people have lived....... and without a doubt yes it was worth it.

The freedoms we have alot of times taken for granted are in some parts of the world just fantasies and figments of the imagination. I have literally spent years away from home at a time. My son is 10 and just now getting to know me. I dont say it to toot my own horn, but rather to show the sacrifices we collectively as the Armed Forces make. The time away is hard but it doesnt make me regret it one bit. It's hard to explain but it is worth it in a bigger scheme.

To defend our freedoms sometimes isnt an easy task. I've been to the military funerals where the protestors display thier freedom of speach. I've seen the flag burners and those that even in this day call Soldiers 'baby killers' Truth is as much as personally I wish I didnt have to I defend thier freedoms even to thier own blind eye.

The important thing is to remember are the true hero's; those son, daughters, fathers and sons that have given thier lives for thier countries. They have truely given the ultimate sacrifice.

Everyone watches the news and thinks of the vets of Iraq and Afghanistan, but do not forget the Soldiers of pervious conflicts. Vietnam, Korea, WWII and more are still ever bit as vital to what our country was and is.

One last parting thought. You dont need a special holiday to remember the Soldier. Next time your at the mall, or walmart and you see that old vet with the Vietnam or WWII hat on take a minute say hi and shake his hand and say thank you for what they did for thier country. The reaction you get will be an experience you wont soon forget.

This is so very true. I am proud to say that I will walk up to service members I see, shake their hand and acknowledge their contribution to OUR country. The look of gratitude as well as the pride you see in their eyes, after thanking them for their service is heartwarming.
