So I had heard a lot of horror stories about Deep Blue Professional products while I was looking for a fixture and had stumbled upon a good deal for a SolarExtreme (luckily I didnt buy it and got the TEK instead). I had read about people having multiple DB lights fail, having tanks leak, the list goes on. Well I ended up getting DB glass covers for the tank which many do not agree with which is besides the point. They didnt fit the tank and i had to have them cut down to size. 2 days into owning them the handle falls off one. (they do not come installed, and I did install them on clean glass) So i super glue it back on since obviously the double sided tape they use sucks. Then during my new tank setup I was putting the glass back into place and the handle falls off the other, glass falls and breaks all over the place. So I would just like to express how awesome their product is.

Hmm. Super glue is not the proper adhesive to use on glass first off. Second, dropping glass made by Deep Blue or by any other manufacturer usually results in shattering. I don't quite understand the point of the above.

I'm not tracking. Was the size you ordered not the size your received? or was the size you ordered not the size for your tank? If it's the later question, that is not thier fault.

Double sided tape fails collectively across the entire universe regardless of who makes it, and especially if your placing weight on it. I can see it holding to open and close the canopy where it is hinged and not weight bearing, but if your using it to lift the entire thing... gonna have to side with a possible no no on your behalf. Plus if you already had one come loose and have to reglue it, why would you trust the second one to be used as a lifting device? Once again not completely seeing them at exclusive fault there.

I wasnt there so I dont know but doesnt completely sound like its all on them.

On the other hand though, I done use a tank cover, nor have I ever purchased from them.

I am not stating that super glue is the correct bonding agent to use on a plastic to glass adhesion. I am in fact stating that the one that was not super glued came apart. The cost of the top was $54 and they use low quality double sided. Look at the double sided tape that is used in the automobile industry for instance, it does not come apart so easily. And yet the weight of a what 1/4lb piece of glass (hinged) is enough to break it free? And yes to your statement dropping glass from any place will shatter.... Yes I am well aware it is plate glass thats what happens but there is no reason the glass should have came free from the handle. Also I do agree double sided tape fails, but 2 days after it was firmly attached to a clean piece of glass?

When ever I use doubled sided tape for anything I buy a pack of the appropriate sized tabs made by 3M. Any other, especially those that come with a product will fail quickly.

This is true as far as I know they have excellent double side. Either way no more glass tops for me now anyways.

I've used super glue for that exact purpose the OP did, and not super glue branded as "glass". It works great for bonding glass to plastic. In fact the bond outlasted the plastic handle.

I've also run aquarium rooms using old AGA glass tops that had double sided sticky tape and they again, outlasted the plastic. We would routinely use the handles to remove the glass to clean it (salt creep).
