    If you decide to go FW- get a 29 gallon tank or larger. 10 Gallons is too small to keep salinity and other swings down without experience or a bunch of money in high quality equipment. It can be done, but it probably won't happen. Whatever you decide, remember these 3 things that I didn;t know starting out;

    1. Salt doesn't evaporate- top off with ro/di water
    2. Feed less then you think- whatever you feed, cut it in half and you are probably still overfeeding
    3. Change your water weekly (10-20 percent)

    do those 3 things and I think you can make nearly any tank work

    Hey everyone,
    i am going to post this in the algae section but just to keep you guys in the loop... so I found some red polyp looking thing on my live rock, i'm assuming it's red slime/Cyano but i do also have some green algae growing on the rock and i've read that if it comes from a white looking thing, it could be corraline, now I do see a lot of white on the rock that is turning green. So i am attaching the pics, let me know.

    The rock has been in the tank for only 4 days and I did buy it live. It seems like there's a lot of white powder, and now some "fur"' or "hair" in some spot but my phone camera doesn't have the capacity to capture it.
