    in search of the cheapest sand to use for my refugium. so far im seeing ~$1/lb on average. is there anything less that anyone is aware of?

    If you live near a PetSmart they might have some Caribsea aragonite 30lbs for $20

    My sand was 6 bucks for 10 lbs at petco.

    Our petco is pretty decent in price and occasionally their livestock is sick but not so often. The aquatics manager has a beautiful 120g FOWLR

    I used the dry sugar-size oolite from the Petsmart on Randall Rd. It was inexpensive.

    BTW... Do not do Home Depot play sand even though it is aragonite. You'll read in places about people using that as an alternative. I tried it. It is too fine; almost dusty.

    I'd stick with Petco or Petsmart as much as it pains me to say that. (I can't stand Petco.)

    pgreef! you rock... i went up there and they have a good deal on that stuff. next paycheck ill be going to get 60lbs of it. im also going to get enough fuge mud from reefcleaners.org to do 2" on the bottom before i put dry sand down.
