I'm looking for a good insump skimmer for a 40 gallon tank with a 20 gallon long sump. There are so many to choose from that I don't know where to start. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good skimmer?

It's good to see another 40 Breeder on hear.
You can get the Reef Octopus NW-150, it has been doing great in my 40B. It is rather large height wise, so I don't know how much room you have under your stand. But it has been pulling alot of crap out, and I am still working on dialing it in to exactly how I want it to skim.

Hear is a link to my tanks page.

Hear is a link to some helpful info on it. It took about 2 weeks for mine to finally break in.

thanks for the help, I have the old style 150 that I have been using for the last 2 years and would like to find something with a smaller footprint to clear up some sump space.

Well Marineland just released a skimmer that has the pump built into it. I havent used it myself but it has a small footprint and I have heard good reviews on it.

This is what I have and am very pleased. I got mine from Aqua Cave for around $150. It took a while to get the water level just right, but it produces really nasty green-brown stuff that is not too liquid and not too solid. It also has a small footprint and is much easier to manuver around in the sump than the Berlin I replaced. It's also quieter!
