I'm setting up a 220 Gallon FOWLR tank,
I have 200 lbs or Rock
    150 lbs of sand
    and a 65 gallon sump.
    two 40 Watt UV steralizers..

I was thinking about purchasing this skimmer..
    Reef Octopus Extreme XS250 In Sump Skimmer - to 250 gal - 16 in x 16 in x 24 in

Being that I am keeping two heaters in the sump, bio balls, etc. would there be a problem with the amount of room that the sump has? Or will it negatively affect the amount of water the sump can hold?

Which ever skimmer I decide to but I want it to be concealed. Either in the sump or inside of the stand..

    Any suggestions??

    Hi, CMC53~

    1) The skimmer won't impact the sump volume as it will, itself, hold what it's displacing.

    2) I personally would prefer an in-sump model. External plumbing = more chance for a flooded floor in the event of a leak or skimmer overflow.

    3) Lastly, while I've never used that particular skimmer myself, I've gathered from others who have that it's a good, reliable unit. Reef Octopus is one of the best names out there.

    Hope this helps. :)

    Thanks Mr. Bill
You brought up a good point about the plumbing causing potential leaks. I think I will go with the in sump skimmer as well. Thanks again for the advice..

    Any other opinions??

If it fits in the sump, do it. +1 on the plumbing issue. Also, if it goes in the sump, you have that much more room in your cabinate for other goodies that we love to spend our money on!
