This may be a silly question but has anyone ever heard of a in tank fuge? I have a thirty gal cube that was given to me with the filter system removed . I put in a in tank filter and an in tank skimmer. I have hard coral, and one damsel. thanks to a window and lots of algae I now have a thriving pod population. I would like to put in a dragonet, but I think it would quickly depleat my pods. I cant hang a fuge on the back so any suggestions??? I would also like to make a diy project.

You can set up macro’s within a DT but I would not consider that to be a refugium. The addition of macro’s would be a safe(er) place for pods to multiply but since it is in the DT it would not be safe from predation and there for could not be considered a refugium. But you would still gain the benefit of denitrifiying macro’s and provide some safety to your growing pods.

I would suggest you block the window light – cover the side of the tank, the sunlight will cause you problems.
