Has anyone (other than a dealer/trader) tried a small- 10 gal maybe?- tank for growing just coral frags? I was in my lfs, and looked at a 10 gal setup, and wondered if I could just do coral frags in that then transfer to my reef tank when they grow up (if they grow up!). I have my reef in the basement, and thought I could get a tank going in the main living area, but I have alot of sunlight, no A/C, so keeping consistency would be a challenge. I have only been in the hobby for a couple months- I "inherited" a 110gal reef from a friend that moved, and I would like to start some soft corals. Any pros and cons?

I am a dealer and I have several 10's for soft coral frags then I move them out to the larger troughs once they are secured to the plugs easier to keep an eye on them. I have the smaller tanks filled with broken rocks and coral rubble and I simple snip the heads off the parent colonies then drop them into the 10's until the secure themselves to the rock and rubble on the bottom then out they go to the green house troughs . ou have to watch that sun light it will not color them up that well .
