So this hobby is going to be the death of my bank account. lol As alot of you know I manage a Petco hear in Cali, and I do all the ordering for my aquatics department. So I wanted a bigger variety of clowns at my store so I ordered 3 Black Percula Clowns, 3 Misbar Clowns, and 3 saddleback clowns. Along with a long list of other fish. After I aclimated the clowns to our tanks I was able to take a closer look. The black percula's are more a dark orange than black, but they have black fins and are misbars. Well after watching them for awhile I decided I wanted a pair of the black percula. All three of them looked to be very friendly and I figured I had a good chance of getting a good pair of mates. So I picked two out and they are doing great in my tank. I paid $60 for both of them and they havent moved more than 3"s from each other. They are defenetly going to be mates. Well hear they are.

So I got off work at 5pm and I am just like crap, it's rush hour and the freeway is probably a parking lot. So I decided to take side streets home.Well there just so happens to be a LFS on my home. So I figure i will stop in and see what they have. I notice this nice long tentical coral. Figure that it may be nice to have my clowns host something. So I bought it for them. Cost me $35. Well hear it is.

So I leave that LFS and start heading home again. When I remember that there is another LFS on the way home. I stop in thinking I might get a small bubble coral for them as well. I didn't really see any bubbles that I liked, but a nice frogspawn caught my eye. lol So I bought it for $60 then while they baged it up a red carnation caught my eye. I had never seen one before and didn't really know anything about it. The guy at the shop said they don't need alot of light, and they like alot of flow. He said it was $35 so I said I would take it. I Finaly get home and start get everything in the tank. looks good, but the carnation isn't looking so hot. So I look them up online and find out that they are very difficult to keep and don't really last. So I moved it to my refuge and decided I would take it back after I got off work today. Hear is the frogspawn, sorry I never took a pic of the carnation.

Well today I got the rest of my fish order in at work. In the order was an amazing Tiger Goby. It is big and best of all I got it for $15 hahaha I went home put the tiger in my tank, then baged up th carnation and took it back to my LFS. I got store credit, so I decided to get some more coral. Hear it is. The coral cost me $60 total

Just wanted to give you guys a little up date. All my corals are doing amazingly well. But for some reason every time I get a pair of clowns they die. I just got my third set off clowns and these ones seem to be doing well, accept my six line keeps picking on them. Any suggestions?

I got my AOG on the 4/26/09, there where 7 heads. Now there are 27 heads.
So I will let the pictures do the talking

Your tank is starting to take shape, looks good! Two questions thou, Do you still have the two Cleaner Shrimps and are they a mated pair? I also noticed that apart from the two Cleaners, you also had a CBS, Do they all get along?

I also noticed that on that big rock that has a lot of different Zoas on it, it has a Red/Green Manjano towards the bottom. Keep on eye on it, they do sting.

Yes I still have both my cleaner shrimps but I don't know if they are a maited pair or not. I have had them in the tank for a little over 2 months now and they always seem to be near each other. The CBS gets along with everyone else just fine. He was my first shrimp and he has never had a problem with any of the fish or shrimp. As far as the large zoa coloney, I had to get rid of it. There where alot of majunos on it. I kept killing them and they just kept comeing back, so I broke the rock up and just kept a few of the choice zoa's. I wanted to kill they problem before it became an issue. Since that experience I inspect any corals I buy really well. I noticed a few of my LFS have had bead outbrakes lately.

This tank is coming out very nice. Even though it seemed that you added things to it pretty quickly, you still managed to pull it off, kudos to you!

What kind of flow do you have going through this tank?

I've heard of a lot of issues with having 2 cleaners in a tank....especially a tank that small.

Coral banded shrimps are also very mean. They can and probably will eventually go after your fish. Very common.

I agree with everyone else....you moved too fast with adding stuff. But considering you have a lot of experience in working at the LFS, you did alright. I too am very "I want now!". Tank looks great, nice job on spotting and killing the majenos. Keep up the good work and keep us posted. GREAT PICS

Your fish store seems a little overpriced...have you looked for reef clubs in your area? craigslist? cheapest place to find coral locally is local reefers.

As far as prices go, that torch coral looks purple to me (atleast with my color deficient vision and crappy monitor). If that's the case, i would have easily paid $35 for that, as I don't think I've ever seen them at an LFS, only online.

The torch is a redish purple. Yea I went a little quick with a few of my additions but my filtration has been pretty on point. My chaeto is doing work and been growing like there is no tomarro. The tang I don't have any more. He got to big for my tank so I gave him to a buddy. The only fish I have that actually swim around are my clowns and six line. The only problem I have been having so far is my clowns have strted trying to host in my armour of god polyps at night.

As for plans for this tank. The only other corals I am going to add will be more polyps. I want to cover that entire rock with polyps. All the other corals I want will be added after I build my new tank.
