i have a pair of engineer gobies mine hide most of the time also except for feeding and even then they dont come all the way out they will hit the end of there tails on the live rock then hit auto reverse. they are a very calm fish and skiddish one and they have not gone after any other fish or invert mine are full size now. i did see one out the other day completly but it wasnt long only a few seconds then he circled around and back in his cubby hole. they constanlty remodel there home spitting sand here then takeing the sand to another spot and have used tiny pieces of lr and empty shells it was hard to see but it actually looked like they built a wall under one of the bigger rocks. make sure your lr is secure because they are BIG diggers. they eat most foods alge, flake, pellet, and meats there not picky and they are pretty hardy fish
