Ok, I have decided that I am going to center my new tank around an angler fish. What else could I keep with an angler fish? Could I keep a dwarf lionfish or Mantis? I know the mantis would possibly be better because he could fight for himself. What do you guys think? He is going to a 40gallon high aquarium so what could I pair with him?

    I love Anglers.

The thing with them is, they will try to eat any fish that gets close to it, even ones that are bigger then it. You could try another fish that would have to be at least twice the size of the angler, but its still a risk.

I'm pretty sure if yu get a mantis, u will no longer have an angler fish to center your tank around..lol..whatever u get, just make sure its bigger than the angler

yea, just didnt want the tank being a one fish only tank, I thought maybe the mantis would not find the angler due to camo

yea probab.y, I want to get a peacock mantis and they get decently big too. Well I might hold off on a predatory tank, because I have no idea what I want to put in it lol, I want activity in the tank and the angler fish wont provide that nor will the octo or lion

the peacock mantis is a perfect candidate to be honest.

    1. its a super predator
    2. its very active and bold
    3. its has some striking colors
    4. its just feakin awesome!!!

thats just my opinion on the matter. you could also make the tank a show refugium. i know thats what im gonna do with my 55 gal scorpion tank.

Yea with the tank build I am going to have, I was thinking of having a 40gallon on top and just right underneath have the refugium with the mantis as a display of sorts.

I heard you can feed them seafood as well, can it be like cooked shrimp or something like that, I am a noob at predatory so any info is welcome.
