dont allow your DHK to drop to 8 from 10 and then raise it back to 10 again in 1 day
Most you should increase in 1 day is 1

if you know that the level drops 2 points in 3 days and to bring them back up, you dose 2 teaspoons ( example) then it would be better to dose 2/3rds of a teaspoon each day
as that then compensates for the daily usage and means you avoid making any drastic changes at any 1 time

same with your calc - knowing how much you lose in 3 days is an excellent start
so splitting the addition/ over those 3 days is ideal IME

Tatted4ever introduced the expression Stability Promotes Success to this site
and trying to keep the levels from fluctuating to much is very much a part of this philosophy.

2 150 on a 55 will do little for SPS corals in a 55 maybe 2. 250 would allow you to put any sps anywjhere you want them But with the 150. you need to have them all up near the top of the tank .

A calcium reactor with a Kalkwasser suppliment reactor is a must as will a nitrate coil or some sort of nitrate reduction filter , and a good PO4 reactor and lots of internal water circulation , I run 3 400 20K with 2 100Watt VHO actinics and have a Vortec MP40 3,700 GPH and dual pump like a koralia 3,100 and its drilled with a 2,400 GPH for the loop and 4 1200 Maxi jets one wave timer red sea and I have it turning over through the sump at 4.5 x per hr you have to keep them about that for the skiimer to have time to do its job . with 150 you will need about 12 to 14 Hr a day of the M/H and run some good aticice on the T5 for 16 to 18 Hr per day ..

I run my 400 8 Hrs and the VHO 17 hrs a day and these corals grow like weeds .

Well to grow SPS corals is not cheap , And trying to stay on top of the supplements is a had job as with LPS and softs you can get away with a lot of little variances but not so with SPS's a jump of 2 maybe 3 Degrees F will wipe them out . I'm not one to sugar coat what I say and I'm offering you advice I have gained over many yrs of SPS growing for fun and commercial for profit . And having been 16 and have had 3 children of my own being 16 I know its a tough spot as far as Money ,

Like I told my sons when they where 16 and wanted a car get a good dependable ride as the more sporty they get the more expensive they get both to maintain and insure .. Unless you have the money for the proper lighting and heat removal and the necessary reactors I'd save my money and stick with some nice LPS corals and maybe a few of the more hardy SPS species .

Being an old school gear head and hot rodder and building motors for guys I used to tell them all speed cost money! How fast can you afford to go :) Because if you get after the thing 1/2 A$$ then its going to break.. Good luck with it I hope you beat the odds
