In May ORA will be selling tank bred Mandarin Dragonets. IF you do decide to buy one be prepared to feed them multiple times a day since there metabolisms are so different from other fish

i did some more research especially about ORA and there release of Mandarins in may that will except prepared foods because they were aqua cultured. This still could have been difficult because of there metabolism they need to eat multiple times a day. well after looking around online a bit i found a solution =] you can use whats called a diner which is basically a small jar that has a pile of food (that your mandarin eats) in some sort of jar that your mandarin can swim into and gorge himself whenever he feels like. When the foods starts decaying and releases air bubbles just change out the food and wash the jar. As said earlier possible food sources are mysis, blood worms, formula pellets, orange fish roe, and only use brine as a starter food to get him trained to eat prepared food because it has a low nutritional value. well hope this helped out people

i have some small plastic containers that i use to thaw the cubes in and they hold about 1/2 ounce of fluid. i usually put about 5 drops of zoe fill the container about half the way with tank water and then put a cube of whatever i'm feeding then leave it there to thaw. as the food thaws it soaks up the solution, and thereby becoming enriched. i have a red scooter blenny and she eats anything but flakes. she is a pig and will eat everytime until you can see her gut hanging down. well come to think of it all the fish do that.

Roger Williams University has been working with ORA and has also helped ORA in their breeding and feeding process. Its great that these awesome fish are becoming more tank friendly

Question here: I notice that my mandarin looks for food in the daylight. Everytime I look for him at night I can't find him or if I do find him he is sleeping (or just hidden like he's sleeping). Is this normal?
