Hi!!! My name is Kelly and I am new not only to 3reef but to the saltwater world. I bought a 75g off a friend for a $100...sweet deal aye? It came with live rocks, a yellow Tang, a Pink-Tip Haitian Anemone, 2 little Nemos (clowns), 2 small Damnsels with yellow tails, and 2 slightly larger damnsels, as well as some sort of sucker fish who's head looks like an eel and fins look like a normal fish tail-he's dark grey/black, and a couple snails and alot of hermits.

I bought the tank on Tuesday, knowing NOTHING at all-one of those girls who used to kill guppies in a freshwater tank due to the fact that I couldn't sleep with the bubbles, so I would unplug the unit not really understanding that those fish needed the bubbles for AIR..hahaha...I've come a long way since then!

Moved the tank up the road to my house on Saturday...cleaned it all out and got rid of the old substrate, which looked, smelt, and felt like sewage water. The previous owners had neglected the tank a little bit, and it had green algae alllll over the substrate.

So today, every single one of those little babies are thriving. Hope I can keep it that way. I just fed the anemone half of a silver side because he looked like he was shriveling up and dying...he is currently chewing away and digesting that! The old owner never even fed him once! The Tang is moderating the mean damnsels and watching over the smallest fish in the tank, the little Nemo, who also had the worst shock out of them all.

Yesterday, I was wondering aimlessly around...no hobby that could catch my interest and really challenge me to use my brain....and today...I am a saltwater ENTHUSIAST.

Thank you to all of you out there with the same love for this lifestyle as I am finding...without you, there would be no new takers of this sport. And to all of you who are newbies like me-how exited are you to obtain all this knowledge and strive to one day reach what seems like impossible but are really limitless possibilities!!!!

For what it's worth and it is just free advice but by the looks of the bulbs you best change them out to a hotter K or you are in for a dose of algae hell I'm sorry to say . They look to be simple G.E type warm or cool white home tubes or some old 5,500 K or cooler Mercury vapors or M/H maybe ? Looks to be far far to cook of a K in there .
