Hmmmm I didn't know that. I have always used Instant Ocean (worked great, also mix it in advance, to allow to dissolve & aerate)...I have a question on that note. I read somewhere that it is suggested not to switch salt mixes while using it for a established tank because it will add a lot of stress to the tank inhabitants...is this true? Has anyone heard of this being an issue?

No, I haven't heard that. I don't know if it is true.
I doubt that there could be such a big difference in salt mixes that you could stress everything out that bad. Unless the one you are switching to is inferior junk.
Salt is like a lot of other things in the market today. Probably made from one or two manufacturing plants with 7 or 8 name brands.
I know where I work, we have 8 different brands all coming from the same line :)

A worthy goal for any artificial salt mix would be to create a sea water solution which is as close as possible to natural sea water. Unfortunately, no salt in this study comes very close to meeting this goal.

The conclusion that I come to by reading this article is to just keep buying the salt that I always buy and if they don't have it then buy the other brand.
Because the two brands that looked scary to me "off the chart on a couple of items" I haven't even heard of before. lol

Oceanic had pH and calcium problems when it first came out. These problems have supposedly been fixed. Oceanic is also made by kent marine. I've used it in my FOWLR tank without any problems. I'm partial to Reef Crystals myself. Its supposed to have heavy metal binders in it.
