My peppers took care of what was starting to be an issue in my 40b. I was getting terrified I would see more and was about to order 20 or more peppermint shrimp and go with the army approach lol.

I ordered aiptasia x to see if it would work first and from the time I ordered to the time it showed up (from sunday night till about thursday) I got the bottle of aiptasia x and got the syringe ready for war... and to my surprise the 8 or so aiptasia I had intended to kill were all MIA but one. So squirted it and searched my tank. I saw the peppermint chilling in the rock work and realized he had done his job. So I fed him some mysis and left on my trip!

Hopefully when I get back the aiptasia will remain MIA.

Best of luck with your fight Steve. I imagine you must view the challenge of finding a product there as part of the hobby or else you would have quit a long time ago!

Ive never dealt with the infamous aptasia, thank god, but i do have some input.

Ive read on ppl injecting everything from lemon juice, vinegar, boiling water, cold water... maybe some others.

But i was thinking ive read some threads on treating nuisance algae with hydrogen peroxide. Has anyone shot one up with some? im not a biologist but im sure that couldn't possibly be good for the little guy.

I say the bad thing about the injection method is if you miss, the aiptasia barf out those babies when threatend, I started out with AiptasiaX, do it right it kills them and prevents them from puking out more, I did that with the large ones, but I had lots of small ones, so I got 2 peppermint shrimp and I got lucky, problem solved

I've done boiling water, lemon juice & vinegar, but the combo of a peppermint shrimp & kalk paste is what's winning the war for me. Though I'm afraid that the peermint became target practice/victem of the pistol shrimp (before the job was complete, unfortunately).

I like the kalk because you don't necessarily need to be that precise, i've been able to kill aips by squirting a bunk into the hole/crevace theat they were hiding in.

Good luck to all fighting the war on these pests.

    Edit
i also used boiling vinegar with only limited success.

I think we have created death immune appies. I don't remember them being as beastly as I've experienced recently. They are just like the terminator. No matter what you do, he still keeps coming and the 80s suspense music keeps playing!

    Nothing works..... they are evil.

peppermint shrimp are awesome,(that is if done correctly), as cosmo said it can be hit or miss, but if you add them properly. I.e. starve your tank and the peppermints for a few days and then introduce them, you will have increased your chances of them doing their job 10 fold.
Boiling water i find is a waste of time, the ap's mostly just shrivel away but no tdie. Aptasia x is too expensive. Lemon juice i find is great, low impact on the ph, versus the kalk paste, if use too much bad results.

Also just realized I've read some people dose with vinegar as a carbon source, if your injecting aptasia with it you will be feeding something wont you. adding a possible extra imbalance to the equation.
