Injured Cinnamon Clown! Need help

My skimmer did the same when I added new sand to the tank or rock, it kinda sent everything outta wack. It would fill up with clear water and just boil over with bubbles. I had to drain the cup into a bucket for a few hours and it settled down and started skimming normal. Also the telescoping coupling you have coming back off the protein skimmer, has a lot of clearance over the water. If you could maybe pipe it differently so that the discharge is closer to the water surface it should cut down on your bubbles and potential salt creep problems.
